The acting career of Reese Witherspoon began to grow when she enrolled at Stanford University. Her early critical successes included performances in films like Pleasantville and Election but it was her role as Elle Woods in the box office smash Legally Blonde that marked a significant turning point for her career. She also appeared in The Dictator as well as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Apart from her acting career she is an experienced painter who has shown her work in several galleries.
