Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the top-streamed track within 6 months. In 2017, the single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new attention to reggaeton music but also brought more attention to Latin music. In 2015, there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish were included in the Top 100. By 2020 it will have 41 hits that fall into this category. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna teamed up with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. Reggaeton's mainstreaming was an issue for some artists during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music as well as other forms.
