Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. The father of Zoe Saldana is Dominican as is her mother Puerto Rican. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father was Dominican. She and her family moved from Queens in New York and to the Dominican Republic when she was 10; they lived in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. Zoe discovered a keen desire to perform dances when living abroad. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in order to master ballet along with a myriad of other dance styles. Training was not only a great outlet for this energetic and eager young person, but also a good preparation for her acting career. Zoe as well as her siblings and parents moved to America when she was seventeen. Zoe discovered a love of dance and grew more attracted to the theatre.
